Author Submission Guidelines

Authors are encouraged to submit manuscripts, related to any previously posted OJIN topic, that present research, thinking, and/or experiences furthering the discussion of the topic. The list of OJIN topics can be accessed on this site. Manuscripts can be submitted indefinitely after the first article on the topic has been posted, even if the topic was initially introduced many years previously. OJIN's online technology enables us to place newly accepted manuscripts, that are related to previously posted topics, immediately following the other articles for that topic, thus grouping like articles together, and showing how nursing's collective thinking may be changing over time.

Journal Focus

OJIN: The Online Journal of Issues in Nursing presents a variety of perspectives on cutting edge topics, giving readers a chance to see the full complexity of the topic. The journal recognizes that individuals have differing views on these topics, and on the issues inherent in these topics, and provides a forum in which readers can both express their views and understand others' views on the topic.

Call for Manuscripts

Authors are encouraged to submit voluntary manuscripts, related to any previously posted OJIN topic, to share their research, thinking and/or experiences that are related to the issues and question(s) addressed in the initial articles and that add new information and a new perspective on these issue. In this way, the voluntary manuscripts further develop, enhance and round out the discussion of a topic. OJIN's online technology enables us to place newly accepted manuscripts, that are related to previously posted topics, immediately following the other articles for that topic, thus grouping like articles together, and showing how nursing's collective thinking may be changing over time.

The list of OJIN topics can be accessed in Journal Topics. Manuscripts can be submitted indefinitely after the first article on the topic has been posted, even if the topic was initially introduced many years previously. When submitting a voluntary manuscript, please include in your email an explanation of how your manuscript specifically furthers a given OJIN topic.

Additionally, authors are encouraged to contact the editor (ojin_jackie_owens@sbcglobal.net) as soon as an upcoming topic is listed under "What's New" to begin discussing manuscripts they would like to submit for the upcoming topic.

Queries to the Editor are encouraged to allow the editor to offer advice to the author. However, queries are not required before manuscript submission. For manuscript queries contact Jackie Owens, Editor at ojin_jackie_owens@sbcglobal.net.

Here is an example from a recent OJIN article:
